Restless Restless Restless

The past few days have been nice. The weather is finally, constantly, warm, and I am free to walk around my usually cold house in denim shorts, or lay around and watch TV or play video games without socks or a blanket. It feels great because, unlike the previous days where nature would pull me in with it's warm weather and then unleash a rainstorm upon my face, I have a feeling that the sun and heat and clear blue skies are going to stay. It makes me immensely happy, and I suddenly feel young and restless again.

Lets go to the beach.

Lets go to the city.

Lets stay out all night.

It just feels like the right thing to do.

I want to go out and see the world. I want to wake up somewhere new, and go to sleep someplace different. I want to do so many things and experience so many things that it consumes me relentlessly. It's a lot to ask for, I know.

But I'm really happy spring is finally here. I missed feeling like this. I feel sixteen again.

It's Late & I'm Tired

I think humans are fascinating. One moment we can love someone with all our being, the next moment we "break up" and never speak to the person again. It works the other way, too. We can never know someone our entire lives and then, when we meet them, our world is consumed by them. I wonder if animals are like that. Or insects. I bet animals and insects aren't as shallow and selfish as we are.

Sometimes I try and imagine what kind of personalities inanimate objects would have, like the couch or the dinning room lamp. I even wrote a short story about a conversation between a lamp and a couch, and it gave me a new perspective on things.

But anyway.

What was I talking about before the inanimate objects thing? Oh yes. Humans. I think we're pretty (excuse my language) fucked up things. We're so selfish and greedy and proud. In conversation, we always try and put ourselves in the best possible light, and we lie for the stupidest, most useless things ("Have you ever seen that movie?" "Yeah, it was sooo funny.") We pretend to love someone, or hide that we love someone, and we hurt others to protect ourselves. I would be lying if I said I never did that.

But here comes the weird part. I truly believe it's these horrible attributes that helps make us beautiful.

New Word

Came across a new word that I like a lot and I felt like sharing it:

adjective:
inclined to a healthy reddish color often associated with outdoor life

I rather like the first definition. I think it describes me =]

Cupcakes, Cell Phone Charms and Coats from Korea

HAPPY MARCH FIRST EVERYONE! =D

No amount of words can accurately describe how excited I am for this month! My family from Texas is coming over to California on the 13th for our grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary, and let me tell you, good times are ahead. In February, I passed the days in anticipation until I looked at my calender and found March was already upon us! Yay! Haha. This morning I woke up with a giant smile on my face, ready to begin the countdown until their arrival.

Since I was in such a good mood, I sat down with a few freshly baked cupcakes (yes, a few) and decided to write a new blog post to try and spread my happiness. Today was a great day (I HAD CUPCAKES!), so why not?

But then, as I started to write, it got better.

I heard rustling by my front door, and decided to check it out. While I was pretty sure it was just the mail man, I wasn't expecting what he would be bringing. My coat, which I ordered from ebay, finally arrived from Korea! As if that didn't make things better, as I furiously opened up the packaging, a small, green ,plush dolphin cell phone charm fell out! It's so cute, I couldn't help but "Awww" as I inspected it. Haha. After I tried on my coat (it fits great!) and put on the cell phone charm, I sat back down to begin this post.

And so... here it is! Haha. I know this was probably very boring to read, and yes, the smallest of things make me ridiculously happy, but I figured I'd write about it anyway. I'll post up pictures of my coat and the cell phone charm (the cupcakes are gone O_o) soon.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
EDIT: Just found out about the next Harry Potter movie!!! Gahhh!!!! Haha. So excited! asdfgjkl;!!!!

Kimi ni Shiranai Monogatari II

Since I got a couple of comments about the Japanese song I posted a while ago, asking me to post the translation and such, I have finally found time to post them! Haha. So, here is the song, the translation and a little something about what it means to me =]

Kimi ni Shiranai Monogatari (The Story Not Told)

On a day just like any other,
you suddenly stood up and said,
“Let's go stargazing tonight!”

“I guess even you get a good idea sometimes,”
everyone said as they laughed.
On the dark road,
we fooled around as we walked
and held onto each other
to avoid being crushed by loneliness and anxiety.

As we gazed up from this pitch-black world,
the stars looked like they were falling from the night sky.

Since when, I wonder,
have I been chasing after you?
Please, please
don’t be startled and just listen
to these feelings of mine.

“That’s Deneb, Altair, and Vega,”
you said as you pointed at the Summer Triangle.
I remember looking at the sky.
I finally found Vega,
but where was Altair?
Isn’t he lonely without Vega?

As you stood next to me enjoying yourself,
I stood there, unable to say anything.

The truth is,
I've always somehow known my feelings for you.
"I found him!"
but those words don't reach you.
"Don't cry, don't do it,"
was all I could I tell myself.

I acted tough, but I was just a coward
pretending I wasn't interested.
And yet,
that only increased the pain stabbing at my heart.
Ah, I see, so this must be what it's like
to fall in love.

My heart tries to tell you
to try asking me what's wrong,
but just being next to you is fine.
The truth hurts.

I didn’t say it,
I couldn’t say it,
and now there's no going back.

That summer day
with all those twinkling stars
I still remember even now.
Your face when you laughed,
your face when you were angry,
I loved how they all looked.
Isn't it funny?
Even though I always understood,
you never knew
because it was my own secret.
I pass the nights
with distant memories of you
pointing out the stars
with your innocent little voice.

Yes, OK, the lyrics might be cheesey, but I don't care. Haha. To me, they're very emotional and touching. It's not just the lyrics, either. I feel that the music and, even the way she sings the song, really convays the feeling of young love and learning to let go. Especially when she sings:

I didn’t say it,
I couldn’t say it,
and now there's no going back.

That summer day
with all those twinkling stars
I still remember even now.
Your face when you laughed,
your face when you were angry,
I loved how they all looked.
Isn't it funny?

I would be lying, though, if I said this was the only reason why I love this song so much. No, it's not only because of the wonderful music and lyrics, but because (now here is where it gets lame!) I was in this situation before. Really. And when I first heard this song and I listened to the lyrics, it felt really great to have a song that described my situation. I mean, don't you love it whenever you find a song you can relate to? I know I do! Haha. I also love how the song ends on a positive note. Because, I mean, love is positive, isn't it? Even if it was never voiced, explored or sucessful.

I apologize for my absence. You know how it goes: School and life.

And trust me. Life has been taking me for a ride lately... Haha. Maybe I'll tell you all about it if you don't mind another boy post [; Lots of love!

Kimi ni Shiranai Monogatari [;

Yes, I know not many people will be able to read this, but I love this song too much. That, and I'm secretly enjoying the fact I know how to read this. YAY JAPANESE CLASS =P Haha. Oh, and if you're wondering about the passages that are highlighted those are ones that I love and mean a lot to me.

I love japanese characters (hiragana, katakana and kanji), and if it didn't hurt, I would so get a tattoo with some japanese writing. I think they're beautiful, and even a little edgy, too. Haha. And no, the tattoo won't be something like "Love" or "Dream", but maybe a line from a song that I love. I find that lyrics in japanese songs sometimes surpass those written here in America. So much more emotion, I think =P

Yes, I ralize this is a very crappy post, but college has kept me very busy, and leaves me with little to no energy to write. But I promise! I will get to writing more interesting posts. Posts that actually make sense. Haha.

RIP JD Salinger

"You take a really sleepy man, Esmé, and he always ... stands a chance of again becoming a man with all his fac – with all his f-a-c-u-l-t-i-e-s intact."

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your work. I don't know where I (and a lot of others) would be without you. The Catcher in the Rye, and For Esme- with Love and Squalor will always be my favorites. You will surely be missed.

Good Morning, Bloggers!

Right now it's 8:40, and I am about to head to school at around 9. While I am waiting, I'm enjoying some hot chocolate and mini muffins my mother baked! Haha. I hope everyone has a wonderful day! ♥

Next Stop: Tokyo

Why is Japanese street fashion so cool? It is one of my biggest goals to live in Japan, especially in the Tokyo area. Everything about their culture fascinates me, and I am in love with their street fashion. Unlike here in the states, Japanese men aren't afraid to be super fashion forward, or to try their own thing. And the girls there are so creative and unique! It's amazing to me =]

Every End is a New Beginning

This song is absolutely perfect, and if you've seen the movie in which it's from, then you know how important it is, not just to the movie, but to the fans.

It's from an anime movie called Byōsoku Go Senchimētoru, or 5 Centimeters per Second. It is such a beautiful, touching, heart breaking movie, and I always feel a little melancholy whenever I finish watching it. Even if you're remotely interested, I urge you to check this out. It's not the typical anime that most people think of, with giant robots and futuristic technology. It's real life, dealing with love, separation, hope and heartbreak.

I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do, even if you aren't interested in movie. It's a beautiful piece.

I'm Sorry.

Hello to anyone who reads my blog. I'm sorry I haven't been posting much. I hate it, considering I promised myself that I would keep up with it and post constantly. There are no excuses. I've been lazy and consumed with other things, and I have not made an effort to keep up with it. I'm sorry. I know not many people read this blog, but to anyone who has/does, and actually checks for updates, I am truely sorry.

I'm sorry this is complicated. Haha. To be honest, I feel like I'm making a bigger deal out of this than I should, but I figured I have some explaining to do to those who have read my blog.

Thank you to those who have been interested in my blog. I really appreciate it =] I will be updating more within this next week, I promise! Haha.

The New Years Resolutions List

Yes, here it is. I'm sorry. I'm going to do the oh so cliche "New Years Resolutions" post. Forgive me. I was gonna do to a whole post for New Years, but felt I should do it on the actual day =P Sorry! But you'll never know; you could find some of this interesting...

So, here it goes!

2010 New Years Resolutions
STOP BEING SO DAMN LAZY - I am very lazy. Ask my mom, or my brother, or even my father. It's not that I don't do what needs to be done, but I do tend to slack off for the bare minimum. It's horrible, I know, but it's true. This year I have to make sure I keep up with school and do my work (even if I don't want to), be more active (no more days of doing absolutely nothing!), and really work toward my goals. Oddly, I feel as if this might be a good year for me, so hopefully I can pull through.
FIND A JOB - Now, don't think I haven't been searching (I have, and it's a real b*tch), I just never get hired. I don't know why. I just don't. I've tried at lots of places, and each onehave never give me a call back. But I'm not going to give up! I am going to get a job, and at a place I'll like, too! I just have to keep looking. Wish me luck!
BE MORE SERIOUS ABOUT CERTAIN THINGS - This kind of goes with the "STOP BEING SO DAMN LAZY" one in that I want to be more serious about certain things I want to do. I want to have further lessons in piano and become a better player, do my very best in my vocal training class and become a much better singer, really play with my love for fashion and figure out where that love is going. I also really want to become more serious about my writing. Writing and storytelling has always been a passion of mine, and in the end, will always be my one true love. I aim to be more serious in writing my stories, continuing them, and looking for ways to improve and maybe even publish them. It's kind of a lofty goal, but we'll see. It is one of my biggest dreams to get something published, so why not start working at the goal now?

DEVELOP MY STYLE MORE - I am a huge fan of fashion and playing with it, so I really want to fine tune my style and figure out what works for me best and what I like the best. I also want to do more research on brands and see which ones I like the most and am willing to spend my money on. Some of that stuff ain't cheap, and if I'm going to spend $300.00 on a pair of boots, I better know where it came from, what it's made out of, and if it feels right.
MAKE MORE FRIENDS! - This is pretty self explanitory. I want to make more friends! Blogging friends, school friends - everything! It's always nice to have lots of friends. =] Of course, when I say friends, I mean true friends. Not snarky bitches that talk crap behind your back and bring you down. Nice, down to earth people who generally care about me and the same stuff I do. If anyone wants to be a friend, than don't be afraid to comment! =]
FIND TRUE LOVE - ;]
Well, that's it! If I think of anymore (I don't think there is, but we'll see!) then I'll post it. For now, that's it.
I wish you luck with with your New Years Resolutions and I hope you can think of some good ones!

Oh Marc, I love you.

MARC JACOBS SPRING/SUMMER 2010 COLLECTION

No words can describe how much I love the Marc Jacob's 2010 Spring/Summer Collection. I especially love his use of volume and ruffles, as that is something I'm experimenting with in my wardrobe. If I could own any of these pieces, it would definitely be the blazer at 2:09 and the last dress. I love myself a great blazer, but really? This is perfect. The strong, dark blue color with the ruffled shoulders is absolutely wonderful. It's not too edgy, and not too girly, the perfect balance I think every girl loves. And the last dress? Talk about ethereal and romantic! I would never have a place to wear such a dress, but I think it's OK to still want it, right? Haha.

Marc has always been my favorite designer ever since I was younger and I obsessed over his handbags. I still have yet to own a one, but I know my time will come soon. Haha. Until then, I'll do what I've always done: draw inspiration from his collections and continue to obsess ;]

Two Updates in One Day?

Yes. It is true. Haha. I figured that after my previous, horrible attempt at a post, I should make a post about my upcoming idea for the upcoming year. (And I'm going to do back to my fashion-y posts sooner or later, don't worry. Haha.)

Ready for the title of said new project? HERE IT IS!

365 Days in the Life of Danika

Or maybe I should just call it LOOK AT HOW MONOTONOUS AND BORING MY LIFE IS!

What I plan to do is take a picture everyday next year of something I'm doing, or of my surroundings. I don't think I'll do it for every hour I am awake (Can you imagine that?! I know someone who does that, albeit she's not doing everyday for a year, and she has waaay too many pictures as it is.), but I'll probably do it at the same time every day. Maybe every 1:00? Every morning? Something like that.

So, what do you guys think? Yes or no? To be honest, I'm going to do it regardless if you guys suggest no =P Not that there is anyone who reads this to say no. Haha.

I also have another project that I've thought up, but I requires a few people who live in different places in California for it to work. If you're up for it, please comment!

My Slumbering Heart

Warning: Incredibly cheesy and makes NO SENSE. I suggest you don't read it at all.

I'm sorry that I have not updated in so long. I know that no one reads this, but I still feel the need to say sorry so that anyone who happens to come upon this entry six years from now so that they know how poliet and kind I am.

I'm kidding about the last part.

But I really do feel sorry for not updating, because I clearly told myself (and whoever reads this lame excuse of a blog) that I would do so regularly. So here it is. Another entry. Just a warning to those readers expecting something fashion related: this isn't. So, are you ready? OK. Here it goes.

I don't know whether everyone feels this way, or if I feel so simply because I'm a hopeless romantic, but I believe there is always that one person whom you'll alway love, always remember. And I don't nessisarily mean love in the sense "I love them so much I want to be with them for the rest of my life". More like "I will always look at them fondly and wish them the best". This person could be your friend, or you ex, or someone you've quietly noticed but never spoken to. Call me crazy, but I believe in this. Partly because I have said person.

Obviously, I will not include his name. I have a great fear of him somehow stumbling upon this, and I do not need him thinking I am a creeper. Well, maybe I am, but not in the crazy, stalker, watch-you-while-you-sleep way. I swear.

But I should make up a name for him to make writing this easier. Matt Powers. There.

Matt is younger than I am; 16 years to my 18. I was in my last year of high school when I met Matt. I had transfered out of one of my classes into a Teacher's Aide position, and he sat in he fourth seat one row in front of my desk at the front of the class. The class was sophomore English. It was one of those times when you wished you had met more people in high school. It was the classic high school regret: in all the years you spent trudging through the halls, you wish you had opened yourself up to more people because you finally realized there were so many you hadn't met. You wish you made more friends. Yes, Matt and I had only been in the same school for a year, and yes, I didn't really think much of the freshman (No one does. Lets be honest.), but that was still a year. A year I could have spent getting to know him more. But no.

Maybe it was better this way, maybe it is truely tragic that we didn't meet before my last few months. Either way, I don't know what made me so attached to him.

I've made lists and paragraphs before, trying to explain what it was, or rather, is, that I love about him, and, as much as I don't want to admit (albeit I've told myself this may times) I think it's because of the person I imagine him to be. This naive, kind, beautiful, boy who's just trying to make something of life. This person I hold in my heart is everything I am not. He is very musically talented, driven, well liked, smart, funny and charming. His smile lights up the room, and his laugh makes you fall in love with him. He's caring and considerate, and will never berate you, or make fun of you for who you are, or who you were, or who you want to be. He's this kind, beautiful boy trying to make something out of this life of his. It was as if he never experienced pain or suffering before because he was always happy, or trying to make others happy. It was something about those almond, chestnut brown eyes, and the way they squnited when they smiled.

Anyway, I fell for him. God knows if it was real love, or admiration, or something related to that, but I knew that he had affected me somehow. And he had. I was happier when I was around him, when he spoke to me, when I saw him. I felt like he was truely a beautiful person. He inspired me, and was hooked on him. I'm sure people have felt this way before about someone. You can't lie.

But as soon as I realized his exisitance, I realized my time was ending. He was young, naive, and beautiful, and I was growing older, more tired and worn with my life about to "start" as graduation came around the corner.

And it killed me. Because I wanted nothing more than to watch him grow, and get to know him more.

Yes, I sound crazy and ridiculous. But that was how it was.

And so I tried to hold on to him in some way. Went out of my way to go certain places, stop by the school once and awhile, even if I was no longer needed, or apart of it. Most of the time it worked, sometimes it didn't. Either way, I was trying to get myself used to one simple fact.

He was moving on without me as I stayed stuck in the same place.

And sooner or later, I got used to it. Stopped asking about him, stopped trying to bump into him. It sounds pathetic, it really does. And I suppose it was. The point is, it's now over, this longing to see him and be with him.

However, this does not mean I don't miss him from time to time. Or think about where he is, or how he might be.

No.

If anything, I have just let go of the idea of us becoming something. I have not really let go of him.

I still think about him from time to time, and wonder if he's ok. If he's happy with his new girl friend and if his band is still together. I still wish him the best of luck in everything he does, and that life treats him well.

But the one thing I will always wish for him, is that he never changes. That he will always be happy, and kind, and beautiful and... well, himself. Perhaps this is selfish, but that is what I truely wish for him.

I know this seems incredibly dull and creepy, and you can picture the sitaution however you'd like, but just know I'm not some pshyco-stalker. I swear I'm not. Haha. Think of it like this: It's like looking back on one of your ex's, and thinking of the good in them and the time you shared, and how you wish them no harm. I suppose my situation with Matt was something like that, except for the fact we never dated.

Until next time.

XOXO, Dani

East is East, and West is San Francisco

Please excuse the hat. It was more for the cold, rather than the fashion statement. It was raining pretty hard, and it was really cold, but my jacket is golden and kept me warm the entire time.

I wore this today for my cousin's birthday party in San Francisco, my favorite city. I'm rather biased though, as I haven't been to too many places =P Still, SF never fails to bring a smile to my face, and I can not wait until the day I can get my own little apartment there. It's that big city feeling, ya know? That feeling of being completely on your own, but surrounded by people. To me, the busy streets, the tall buildings and fluorescent lights are perfection. The gray skies this time of year make it ever better. Even if I visit many other cities, and perhaps, find a new one to take it's place as my favorite, SF will always have a special place in my heart as a city that holds many dreams and memories.

As if that wasn't sappy. [;

OH! And check out my chictopia account under the same name =P Haha.

Current Annoyances...

Lets me first start off with the biggest annoyance so far: College. Why on earth is it so complicated to sign up for classes? My college makes it ridiculously annoying! I had to wait for weeks just to sign up today, and by the time I could sign up this morning, practically all the classes I chose weeks ago were full. How am I supposed to tansfer out into a university at this rate? I'll be suck in community college for the rest of my life, taking 2 classes per semester. *bangs head on desk* The stupid thing is that the sign up priority was based on the number of units we had under our belts, and my friend, who dropped out of the ONE CLASS HE HAD, had priority over me with 3 CLASSES I'M STILL ENROLLED IN. Gahhh!

Second annoyance: Boys who like you, but you DON'T LIKE THEM AND THEY CONTINUE TO TRY AND GET WITH YOU, FLATTER YOU, ETC. I don't like you, ok? I already told you! I mean, really? Need I say more? I really don't want or need a boy friend, so can you please respect that?

Third annoyance: This damn cold weather. I used to love it so much, but now I'm just finding it all kinds of annoying. I miss the sunshine and the warm air! Give me spring and summer, NOW!
OK. That is all.

XOXO, Dani
